Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2025
1. Data Ownership and Storage
M Note operates on a principle of absolute data privacy and user ownership. All data you enter into the application—including contacts, notes, assignments, reports, and settings—is stored exclusively in your device's web browser's local storage. Your data is never transmitted to, stored on, or processed by any external servers owned or operated by us.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, track, or have access to any of your personal content. This includes, but is not limited to:
- The content of your notes and assignments.
- Information regarding your contacts (names, addresses, etc.).
- Your service reports and activity logs.
3. Data Backup and Sharing
The app provides you with features to back up and share your data. These processes are designed to maintain your privacy:
- Google Drive Backup: If you choose to connect your Google Drive account, the app will create backups in a private folder within your own Google Drive. We do not have any access to this folder or its contents. Authentication is handled directly by Google, and we do not see or store your Google password.
- Manual File Backup: You can export all your data into a local file. This file is saved directly to your device and is not transmitted to us.
- Selective Sharing: You may choose to share specific items with others, either as plain text or as a special `.mnote` file for another user to import.
4. Usage Analytics (Non-Personal Data)
To improve the application's functionality and user experience, we may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data. This data is strictly non-personal and cannot be used to identify you or access your content. You can opt-out of this tracking using browser extensions or settings if you wish.
5. Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the security and backup of your data. Since your data is stored locally, losing access to your device without a backup (e.g., to Google Drive or a manual file) will result in the permanent loss of your data. Similarly, if you set a security PIN and forget it, there is no recovery mechanism, and you will have to reset the app, which erases all local data.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
